The First Cruise

It was the first trip of the season yesterday, the Mother's Day cruise was fantastic. We had very light air but good enough for Mother's day where mimosas were being consumed (by adults) and chair-massages were going on. Each mother got a white rose and I made several new friends.
The Schooner Zodiac was awesome yesterday and everyone was really excited!

The days are just beautiful!

Lately biking, playing in the grass, and wishing to sail has been quite appealing to me. For the last week and a half I've been out biking or playing with friends OUTSIDE! I for some reason have found playing Lord of the Rings is extremely fun... especially when with two or three other people. I have officially grown tired of talking to myself and being three characters at once. Or at least with that game, I will save that for playing with the friends. I hope all are out and about in the world because it's beautiful out.

Vancouver AquaQuest

Have you ever been to the Vancouver Aquarium? Wait let me rephrase that... Have you ever been behind the scenes at the Vancouver Aquarium? No?... Didn't think so. Well behind the scenes is better than the normal aquarium. The AquaQuest building is for the managers and founders and fund-raiser ideas people. Going behind the scenes was pretty cool, we got to see the volunteers feeding and training the male Beluga Whale, Imaq. We got to go to the behind the scenes Jelly (not so) Fish exhibit where they raise their own Jelly (not so) Fish exhibit. I had heard somewhere that Lion's Mane Jellies can sting up to 30 feet away from where they currently are, yesterday I found out why. Most all Jellies will have tentacles fall from the rest, but when the tentacle fall they will still hold their stinging power. Lion's Mane Jellies can grow up to 6 ft in diameter and have tentacles up to 100 ft long. If you've ever seen a Moon Jelly (not so) Fish than you've probably wonder what that weird orange clover shape is on their surface is, it's actually undigested food! You might have heard of a Fried Egg Jelly- Yes there is a Jelly called a Fried Egg Jelly. If you have heard of one (heavens knows I didn't until then) then you might wonder about the Fried Egg Jelly Fish. It's Latin name is Phacellophora Camtschatica, can grow to be 2 ft in diameter and has about 16 groups of a few dozen tentacles but yet it still has an extremely weak sting. The Japanese Sea Nettle Was used by the Japanese Ninjas, they would grind the dried Jelly Fish up and use it as a stinging powder. After the experience in the "Jelly Hall" we were let out to roam the Aquarium, we walked through the Aquarium and noticed a show about to start. We stood to watch a dolphin show! They announced the dolphins names, Spinnaker was the only male, Hana and Helen, these dolphins did an awesome trick show! After that we saw The Beluga whales, Aurora and her babies. Lastly we saw the Sea Otters, we learned that otters have little pockets in their armpits and they shove food they will eat later in there also if they find a rock that is nice for cracking open shells they'll keep that in there too.
